Dear Colleague,

We are pleased that you have chosen St. Johnsbury Academy for your studies during the summer of 2017.  The staff has planned a challenging and fun-filled week for you. We are ready to help you meet your professional development goals.

Schedule, Programming, and Activities:

Essential information about the daily schedule, programming, and afternoon and evening activities, as well as a camper’s checklist and directions to our campus can be found on our website (http://www.apsisja.org).  Check out the “Camp St. J” pull down menu for more detailed information. Be sure to check out the links to our afternoon and evening destinations! Please note, there is a modest charge for some of our activities.

Up-to-date information about your workshop can be found online (“Courses”). Some workshop presenters send an introductory email to you before your session begins. Please note: If you are enrolled in AP French, you will travel to Magog, Canada. Please be sure to bring your passport or enhanced driver’s license.

Registration Sunday:

Institute Registration will take place in the Mayo Center (our library) from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 (Session I); Sunday, July 16 (Session II) or Sunday, July 23 (Session III).  Late registration is from 6:00 – 8:00 in Streeter Cafeteria. A social hour at 5:00 PM, special buffet at 6:00 PM, and opening general session at 7:00 PM will complete the evening. There will be a short, initial session of each workshop on Sunday evening.

One of the most productive parts of any workshop is the sharing of ideas that takes place.  Please bring copies of syllabi, problems, labs, or exercises for your session to share with fellow participants.

Final Payment and School Purchase Orders:

If there is a balance due on your registration, final payments can be made at registration. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover). If your school is paying by purchase order, please have your school email the purchase order to Stacie Ruggles at sruggles@stjacademy.org or fax to (802) 751-2127. We understand that some schools may be paying for the workshop during the next fiscal cycle. If so, please have them forward the purchase order after July 1st.

Airport Shuttles:

We have tentatively scheduled two shuttle pick ups (11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.) at Burlington International Airport and at the Manchester, NH Airport. Cost is $25 one way. You can pay us on arrival at check in.Please email Sarah Laforce at slaforce@stjacademy.org as soon as possible to confirm flight arrival and departure times (or if you would like to use this service).  The Burlington airport is a 1.5 hour drive from St. Johnsbury, and the Manchester Airport is about 2.5 hours from St. Johnsbury.  The shuttle will take you directly to registration.

Graduate Credit and Continuing Education Units:

As we are co-sponsored by the College Board, we will be awarding Certificates of Program Completion indicating 30-contact hours at the Institute.  You must attend ALL sessions to be eligible for a certificate or graduate credit.

Three (3) graduate credits may be earned through Southern NH University ($336). The fee for these credits will be payable to St. Johnsbury Academy upon your arrival.  We will have all the forms and information ready for this when you arrive.

Lodging On-Campus

Our dorm rooms are not air-conditioned (except the Maple Center), so it is highly recommended that you bring a window fan for your comfort (our library and classrooms are air-conditioned). Additionally, you may want to also bring a small desk lamp (all rooms have overhead, LED or florescent lighting). Please note, we DO provide sheets and linens for your stay. Each dormitory has a laundry facility.

Lodging at the Comfort Inn and Suites:

If you selected to lodge at the Comfort Inn and Suites when you registered for the APSI, we will assign you a roommate (unless you have notified us as to a roommate preference). Please be sure to register on-campus before going to your hotel. Free morning and afternoon shuttles to and from campus will be provided at 7:15 am, 7:30 am and 3:05 pm and 3:25 pm.

Recreational Facilities and Yoga:

Our Fieldhouse facility will be open throughout the week for swimming, running, tennis, or the use of the exercise equipment.  There is no extra charge for the use of the Fieldhouse and pool.

Yoga is scheduled from 3:30 – 4:30, Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Cost for the hour long session is only $10. Sign-up and pay at breakfast the morning of the class.
