Afternoon Activities

Ready to recharge after a challenging day in the classroom?

At Camp St. J, we work and play hard.

Come join your consultants, peers and our staff in a wide array of outdoor activities and leisure opportunities in National Geographic’s #1 Small Town for Adventure, St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

What are the options?

Each week is unique, but among our many options are:

Day Hikes – Guided excursions up Burke Mountain or Devil’s Hill (Sorry, Wheeler Mountain is closed this season due to logging).

Kayaking – Paddle Shadow Lake and witness the serenity that is the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Swimming – Trips to favorite local beaches such as Lake Willoughby, Harvey’s Lake, and Joe’s Pond.

Skeet Shooting – Expand your skill set or keep up your practice under the watchful eyes and expertise of Roo Mold and Charlie Hegarty. (All equipment provided.)

Exploration Excursions – A number of trips to sample the delights of such Vermont establishments as Cabot Creamery, Dunc’s Mill Rum Distillery, and Northeast Kingdom Tasting Center.

Biking – Bike the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail 13 OR 17 miles from Danville, Vermont back to campus on the recently completed rail trail that connects St. Johnsbury to Lake Champlain. For the more adventurous, Kingdom Trails, THE mountain biking destination on the East Coast, is an easy 20 minute drive from campus.
