Afternoon Activities

Ready to recharge after a challenging day in the classroom? At Camp St. J, we work and play hard. Come join your consultants, peers and our staff in a wide array of outdoor activities and leisure opportunities in National Geographic’s #1 Small Town for Adventure, St. Johnsbury, Vermont.

What are the options?

Each week is unique, but we offer a HOST of options. Please click on the hyperlinks to learn more about each of our offerings.

Day Hikes – Guided excursions up Burke Mountain, Devil’s Hill, Wheeler Mountain, and Lonesome Lake.

Kayaking – Paddle Shadow Lake and witness the serenity that is the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Swimming – Trips to favorite local beaches such as Lake Willoughby, Harvey’s Lake, and Joe’s Pond.

Skeet Shooting – Expand your skill set or keep up your practice under the watchful eyes and expertise of Roo Mold and Charlie Hegarty. (All equipment provided.) There is a $15 fee for shot and skeet.

Exploration Excursions – A number of trips to sample the delights of such Vermont establishments as Cabot Creamery, Dunc’s Mill Rum Distillery, Eden Ice Cider and the Northeast Kingdom Tasting Center.

Yoga – Sign up for yoga, generally scheduled for Monday and Wednesday afternoons in our dance studio (mats provided!). An hour long session of yoga is only $10 per participant and certain to recharge the internal and external batteries.

Biking – Bike the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail 13 OR 17 miles from Danville, Vermont back to campus on the recently completed rail trail that connects St. Johnsbury to Lake Champlain. For the more adventurous, Kingdom Trails, THE mountain biking destination on the East Coast, is an easy 20 minute drive from campus.
